Spam
- Hey Uwe, it looks like your site is being spammed. I'm sure you'll know about it before you read this. FormatXML and the About page have been hit. --Brian 03:34, 25 Mar 2005 (CEST)
- Hi Brian, thanks for reporting. I reverted the changes. --Uwe Hermann 12:40, 25 Mar 2005 (CET)
eMail Harvesters
Many [mailto:eMail@Adress.com Name] Links are used for contacting maintainers, but this is a problem as spambots can catch them. There is a extension called eMailTag that might solve that problem. I also suggest to turn on the [[Special:emailuser/Username]] function of MediaWiki for user to user communication instead of posting a plain address on userpages. Matt 23:02, 6 January 2007 (CET)
Forum + Wiki-Node
- Hi Uwe. This is a useful wiki, I think. Thanks for making it. I suppose both a forum and a wiki-node would suit you quite fine here. --MattisManzel 11:30, 1 Apr 2005 (CEST)
- Hi Mattis, I don't want to create an additional forum (like phpBB or similar), but rather discuss everything in the wiki itself. Maybe I should create a page like Unmaintained Free Software:Discussions or Unmaintained Free Software:Forums? As for the Wiki-Node, I'll have a look at it, thanks. Do you think Unmaintained Free Software:WikiNode or just simply WikiNode is better? I'd probably create the first one, as the latter would appear in the list of unmaintained projects. --Uwe Hermann 15:16, 1 Apr 2005 (CEST)
- I just realize that forum ist beeing misunderstood, I do mean a sheer wiki page - wiki-forum is the better name for. See for example chonqed-wiki: wiki-forum. The wiki-node is a widespread concept. All Pages are called WikiNode. Hop in in it on Google: wikinode. --MattisManzel 22:22, 1 Apr 2005 (CEST)
- Ah, ok, that makes sense. I just added the WikiNode (feel free to add more related wikis) and a forum. Thanks for your suggestions. --Uwe Hermann 13:43, 2 Apr 2005 (CEST)

Welcome Back!
- Glad to see it's back. A very promising resource! -- Jdowland 15:32, 25 Jul 2005 (CEST)
- Thanks a lot! It seems the server is a bit overloaded ATM, but I hope everything will be fine now... --Uwe Hermann 19:52, 25 Jul 2005 (CEST)
New Topic
- Greetings, Uwe. I was thinking of adding a Topic called "Security" under the Categories section but wanted to make sure it was ok. -- Brian 18:35, 28 Aug 2005 (EST)
- Hi Brian, sure go ahead! Create new categories as you see fit. --Uwe Hermann 17:49, 29 Aug 2005 (CEST)
Codehack Screenshot License
- Well, for the screenshot (for Codehack) you can use CC as license. - Nearfar 15:00, 15 September 2006 (CEST)
- Thanks, I have updated the license information of the screenshot. --Uwe Hermann 23:05, 15 September 2006 (CEST)
DynamicPageList Extension
- I suggest to use the http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/DynamicPageList or http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/DynamicPageList2 extension for an automated Recently Added/Adopted Projects listing. Matt 17:18, 21 January 2007 (CET)
- Done. I've upgraded to Apache2 + PHP 5 + MySQL 5 + MediaWiki 1.9 all on one day, and it seems nothing has broken ;-) DynamicPageList2 is now installed and used for the list of recently added projects. For the list of recently adopted projects things are not so easy, unfortunately. I'll read some more documentation and see if I can come up with a reliable and accurate DPL2 function for this... --Uwe Hermann 02:31, 24 January 2007 (CET)
PyWikiBot
- I played around with the Python Wikipedia Robot Framework and used it to replace the old HTML tags with the new Template:Project. You might want to give PyWikiBot the bot-flag so that users can optionaly hide it's edits from Recent changes and discuss the upcoming tasks for the maintenance robot. --Matt 10:16, 21 April 2007 (CEST)
- Thanks for your great work! This is really nice. PyWikiBot has the Bot-flag now. --Uwe Hermann 16:29, 29 April 2007 (CEST)
