Suggestions for Nomination Guidelines
I would like to propose the following guidelines for nominating projects, to maximize fairness and diversity.
- It seems bad form for a person to nominate a project they themselves recently submitted.
Well, there are exceptions to this. If nothing else is going to be nominated, or there are exceptional circumstances which make visibility unusually important, then I can see you'd want to do this. Otherwise, everyone already knows you think it's important, simply because you're the one who added it.
- It also seems bad form for a person to neglect to nominate (or vote) for projects at least once in a while.
Again, there'll be exceptions, but my idea here is that nominating and voting not only improves the process but also improves people's understanding of what Open Source abandonware exists and would also help improve the vitality and value of the site.
