Project Details

MICE is a suite of programs written by the University College of London, under assorted grants. They provide tools for videoconferencing and establishing multicast gateways. Conferences are announced using the SDR protocol and may contain audio, video and whiteboard components. A customized version of Tcl/Tk is provided as the authors needed some features which did not exist in the standard version at the time.

Comments:

  • The software was abandoned after they ran out of money.
    • The code contains a blend of C and Tcl/Tk, which makes compiling an interesting exercise.
    • The "common library" is static-only.
    • The CVS versions of the code may be more recent than the ones directly linked to.
    • E-mailed the maintainers when I listed a few of the projects on Freshmeat. It's dead, Jim.
