GRUB legacy is the GRUB currently used. In other words, the version number is 0.9x. The next generation of GRUB called GRUB 2 will be developed from scratch. So the GRUB legacy is in maintenance mode, that is, the source code is only fixed but not extended in principle.
Someone who helps to maintain GRUB legacy is needed. [1]
